Photos of track clearance work

Photos on this page show track clearance work done by volunteers in Portishead. A lot of progress had been made clearing several hundred yards of track east of the new Quays Avenue. Care was taken not to disturb nesting birds etc, though none were found. To minimise disturbance of wildlife, width of clearance was minimised. Some help was received from Hydrex, the Portishead plant hire specialists who have also pledged further support. However, due to the erection of a security fence by Network Rail, blocking access to the track from Quays Avenue, work had to stop on the main section. Instead some of the track on the west side of Quays Avenue, which heads towards Waitrose was partially cleared. Work has stopped at present. Click any photo to see enlarged picture.
