The Development Consent Order (DCO) has been accepted to proceed to examination by the Planning Inspectorate (PINS).

At a full Council meeting on Tuesday 25 June, North Somerset Council agreed to submit a Development Consent Order (DCO) application to the Planning Inspectorate for the MetroWest Phase 1 scheme. Travelwest update >>

The Portishead line re-opening is at last fully funded! The Secretary of State has said that the £31.9 million from the Department of Transport that is needed to fill the financial gap in the multi-million-pound project, together with the money already allocated by North Somerset and the West of England Combined Authority has been agreed.

20 February 2019:
At a full Council meeting on 19 Feb, North Somerset Council agreed to allocate up to £15m of regional funding from the Economic Development Fund to help reduce the funding gap for the project, subject to approval by the West of England Joint Committee. Authorisation was also given to request up to £11.65m from the Local Growth Fund to complete detailed design. The Development Consent Order submission is now scheduled for June 2019.
